Let’s Go Flying: Oceano!
Let’s Go Flying (and Camping) to Oceano! It’s a sliver of runway just south of Pismo and only steps away from the sands of the Pacific Ocean! The Friends of Oceano Airport will be hosting a Fly-In Movie Night that Saturday so there should be a good turnout of aviation enthusiasts and BBQ! Close your eyes hard enough and it’ll feel exactly like OshKosh.Fun things to do in Oceano:

  • Go to the beach!
  • Check out the dunes for yourself, make a beach day of it.
  • Biplane Rides
  • Grab a loaner bike and explore
  • Walk to local restaurants
  • Uber to town
  • Count how many times the field goes from VFR to IFR in an hour

Camping:
If you’re interested in camping there is a $15 fee for the airport campground. There are no showers there and it may be a little tight due to the event so don’t expect too much privacy, but expect a good time regardless. There are other campgrounds outside the airport that are within walking distance if you so desire. Feel free to make it a long weekend and camp Friday and Saturday night, just Saturday night, or just make it a day trip!

If you’re interested and know you want to pilot, book a plane and feel free to advertise available seats in the Facebook Group, or reach out to me directly and I’ll try to help.

To Go or Not To Go!

To go, or not to go: that is the question: Whether ’tis nobler in the aircraft to suffer The turbulence and approaches in outrageous IMC, Or to take arms against a sea of adverse METARs and TAFs, And by opposing end the journey and stay grounded?
